The Music

Judith began singing from a very early age. Brought up in the Pentecostal church, as a child Judith would often learn the songs sung in church, come home and practice them in the bathroom, use her toothbrush as a microphone and stand on the toilet seat so she could see herself performing in the mirror.

Her parents would often sneak up on her, hear her sing and encourage her until she became confident to begin singing in church services and in church based local, regional and national youth talent contests.

When the family went through a difficult time, it was then her gift further developed and she began to song write. She describes this time as her way of escaping, not focusing on the problems but rather focusing on creating and listening to music which made her feel happy.

It was during this time that Judith penned her first Contemporary Gospel song called ‘Tears Of Joy’, a song that speaks of the crucifixion of Jesus. This song was originally written to be sung at her local church’s Easter Convention, however the National Music Director for the National Church in the UK attended the local rehearsal and upon hearing the song immediately requested that it be sung by the National Mass Choir at the National Youth Convention with Judith to sing lead. The song went on to win a BBC Radio WM Award in the early 1990’s in the ‘Best New Song’ Category, at an event hosted by the Late Frank Stewart a radio broadcaster and pioneer who helped to bring Gospel music to the UK airwaves.

No longer a medium of escapism but now one of expression, Judith describes her style as ‘Music From The Heart, The Soundtrack of Her Story’, with an RnB, Soul or Urban Contemporary Gospel fusion, to musically communicate powerful messages of change and hope to engage, inspire and uplift the listener to believe for 'better'.
